About the Coffee House

Welcome to the Coffee House. Sit down, pour a cup, light a cigarette — smoking is not only allowed, but encouraged. Join in on the discussion. We’re talking about books and movies, politics and religion, life in general, laundry, men and women, Internet jackassery, and anything else that catches our fancy. We’re prone to vulgar rants, horrid puns, and occasional fits of fiction around here.
     Let me introduce myself — I’m JavaElemental, owner and proprietor of the Coffee House, and I’ve been blogging in various locations since about 2000. I am an expert in nearly nothing except, possibly, running greasy spoon diners, but I do have some college education, and I read voraciously. I’m getting older and crankier every day, and am constantly boggled at the shit you people get up to. I tend to lean left in politics, and I’m an atheist, so be forewarned: I’m one of — *gasp* — them. I’m over thirty and divorced, writing a novel, and trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. I’m sarcastic and foul-mouthed, have little patience for the stupid, and unafraid to share my opinions. On the upside, I’m not scared to change my opinions, either, so that’s a point in my favor.
     Here at the Coffee House, we welcome all comers, and encourage insightful and/or amusing commentary. However, I do not allow assholery, and if you are convicted of such a crime, you’ll be shown the door. Judgment in that matter lies at my sole discretion. Don’t be stupid, and play nice, and you’ll get along just fine.
     Thanks for visiting, and come back any time. The coffee’s always fresh, the chairs are always comfortable, and there’s probably a chess game in the corner if you get bored.
