Bits & Pieces

irst, I just want to pimp my new Cthulhu shirt, mostly because it was a bitch to draw. Smiley-faced Cthulhu? Not as easy as you might think.
And now, for odd bits of coolness. Jet From Supermassive Black Hole Seen Blasting Neighboring GalaxyA jet of highly charged radiation from a supermassive black hole at the center of a distant galaxy is blasting another galaxy nearby — an act of galactic violence that astronomers said yesterday they have never seen before. This jet of radiation is about to play havoc with another galaxy nearby, pretty much destroying the atmospheres of any planets in the blast radius.
Jackson to take part in New Line-MGM ‘Hobbit’But Jackson has not signed on to direct two films in the deal — which includes “The Hobbit” and a sequel — according to officials from New Line, a unit of Time Warner Inc. New Line and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, which will co-produce “The Hobbit,” are looking to start filming in 2009. My question is: “Sequel?” What sequel? Of course The Hobbit has a sequel. It’s rather long, is in three parts, and has already been filmed. Aside from that, I don’t know what the hell they’ve got in mind.
