WTF, Pt 2
ia Pandagon, I found this YouTube video, which is just chock-full of crazy.
Lybrel is the “new” birth control pill that just got FDA approval. There’s nothing special or different about Lybrel. As far as I can determine, it’s the same dose of hormones you’d get in one of the other common pills. The only apparent difference is that Lybrel comes with an extra seven pills in the handy little case, and that you take the pills all month with no placebo break. Which means — drumroll, please — no more periods! Booya!
Yeah, I’ll be switching to this the red-hot second it’s available. I’ll be doing it just to spite that deeply crazy bitch, Leslee Unruh, in the video. I’d never heard of Unruh before. Turns out, she’s one of the folks we can thank for the South Dakota abortion ban. Great. She apparently falls under the “with friends like this who needs enemies” category when it comes to women’s rights.
The whole “abortion / birth control / controlling our bodies” thing just kind of baffles me some days. I guess I don’t understand how my period, my womb, and my vagina, and what I choose to do or not do with them, are anyone else’s damn business. I mean, I don’t go around telling men what they can and can’t do with their wieners in their free time, do I? I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: the key to lowering the incidents of abortions in this nation is good sex education and reliable, available methods of birth control for men and women. Making abortions illegal, stigmatizing birth control methods, and teaching abstinence-only sex ed is nothing but a recipe for disaster.
Here. Have a music video: Savatage, Sleep:

You don’t know what you’re missing, this is one of my favorite hobbies. “You! Bake a cake with yours! You over there! Achieve world peace with yours! And you! Make yours into a little sock puppet and make it sing me ‘Rule Britannia’ in a funny voice!”
