eport Says Pentagon Manipulated Intel — Pentagon officials undercut the intelligence community in the run-up to the U.S. invasion of Iraq by insisting in briefings to the White House that there was a clear relationship between Saddam Hussein and al-Qaida, the Defense Department’s inspector general said Friday.
This article comes from ABC News — this would be the same bunch of yahoos that made the TV movie Path to 9/11, that fictitious pile of turds that aired last year. The article blames the Pentagon for the “false intelligence” that led us into the Iraq war. I’d like to point out that so far, BushCo has blamed pretty much everyone but themselves. The CIA and its directors got blamed, the Pentagon is getting blamed, the French are to blame . . .
This is what is known as “bullshit” out here in the real world. We’re probably not ever going to get to know the real story, but we can make some pretty good guesses with the evidence we have to work with, and my guess is that we still get to blame BushCo for manipulating the story — IE, lying — to drive us into a war with the Middle East, in hopes of getting our hot little hands on their oil supplies. I’m sure there were a few other reasons, but I’m willing to lay odds that “freeing the Iraqi people”, “fighting terrorism abroad so we don’t have to fight it at home”, and “finding Saddam’s WMDs” were not actually ranking all that high on the list.
Those of us here in America who still have two active brain cells to rub together might want to pay attention to the Iran situation, too, because ladies and gentlemen, we’re in the process of picking a fight with them. Watch and see if it doesn’t play out pretty much like Iraq 2.0. You know I’m right.
House security chief: Pelosi didn’t ask for plane; I did — House Speaker Nancy Pelosi did not request a larger plane for personal use to travel cross-country without stopping, Bill Livingood, the House sergeant at arms, said Thursday. Livingood said the request was his, and he made it for security reasons.
That “popping” sound you just heard? That was CNN pulling its head out of its ass. CNN — Lou Dobbs in particular — has been flogging the Washington Times bullshit story about Speaker Pelosi demanding a military aircraft for her own personal use. Now, let’s see . . . the Washington Times . . . they would be owned by the same people who own the Insight. Those “same people”, for anyone keeping score at home, would be Sun Myung Moon, the goofy old cultist himself. You might also remember that the Insight is the conservative rag that started the Obama-Madrassa story, which CNN debunked. Of the Madrassa story, Wolf Blitzer said that “CNN had done ‘what any serious news organization is supposed to do in this kind of a situation’: actually investigate and learn the facts.” (<-- from ThinkProgress.) Ooh, CNN investigated the Madrassa story and learned the facts! You know, like they should have done with the Pelosi story!
