Wii Wii Wii All The Way Home

Man, it just doesn’t feel very Christmasy around here. There’s no snow — just mud, gray, and wet. Looks and feels more like March than December. Even at work, with a ton and a half of Christmas decorations up, it just doesn’t feel much like Christmas.
I’m hoping that changes when I get some presents under that poor, empty-lookin’ tree over there. I haven’t had much of a chance to do any Christmas shopping, but I’m going on Friday with my mom. I tried to go last Friday with Art, but y’know. Can’t take a man shopping. They just don’t have the stamina for it. Heh.
Actually, we went last Friday, looking for a Wii for Lil’ Art. Ha! They don’t exist. The Wii is a figment of your imagination, a hoax perpetrated by the Nintendo company for their own bastardly amusement. At least, that’s what I’m left to think considering that you can’t get the damn thing anywhere in the States, because they’re so popular.
We’ve accessed Art’s vast network of contacts and allies, mobilizing the restaurant/internet army to attempt to locate a Wii before Christmas. We’ve got a gal trying to get one in through her local — oh, what do you call it? The DX? The commissary on her army base, and we’ve paid a guy twenty bucks to stand out in front of Target Sunday morning and try to get us one there. (Actually, I was planning on doing it myself, but apparently Art didn’t realize I was planning on being that dedicated to the goal.) We’ve heard a rumor of 50 Wiis arriving somewhere in town — Art knows where, but I don’t remember.
Do you realize that those damn things sell for about $250 in the store, and they’re already going for $800 on Ebay? That’s crazy. You freaks who are willing to pay that are screwing it up for the rest of us, just so’s you know.
Meanwhile, here’s an interesting article about why the economy still sucks even though the numbers claim it doesn’t: The Great Wealth TransferThe reason most Americans think the economy is fair to poor is simple: For most Americans, it really is fair to poor. Wages have failed to keep up with rising prices. Even in 2005, a year in which the economy grew quite fast, the income of most non-elderly families lagged behind inflation. The number of Americans in poverty has risen even in the face of an official economic recovery, as has the number of Americans without health insurance. Most Americans are little, if any, better off than they were last year and definitely worse off than they were in 2000.

Speaking of Christmas… could you email me your mailing address? I’m having some things made and I’d like to send you guys some stuff. It won’t all be ready until about mid-week, which means you guys probably won’t get it until a little after Christmas, but I’d like to send it anyway. Just so I get the number right, it’s you, the hubbie, and the squirt, right? (sorry, names are escaping me right now)

I promise this isn’t creepy and that you’ll like at least half of it, what with it being cold up there and all. [hint]
