Bad ABC! Bad Disney! Bad!
So, ABC’s doing this miniseries, The Path to 9/11. They’re calling it a “docudrama”. I’m calling it “bullshit”. That’s because the miniseries is, according to news sources, actors who worked on it, specialists called in for it, and several of the people besmirched by the miniseries, totally biased and full of wild inaccuracies. It is, in fact, full of lies. The miniseries claims to be based on the 9/11 Commission Report . . . erm . . . not so much, apparently. Several scenes in the miniseries directly contradict the 9/11 Commission Report, in particular, several scenes dealing with how Clinton’s administration dealt with bin Ladin.
Since I’m jumping on the ABC Hate Band Wagon a bit late, due to having a life and being busy, we’ll linkify to other folks who’ve been writing about this all week.
Atrios: Atrios has been beating the shit out of ABC and Disney over this miniseries. Here: ABC Miniseries Has Rightwing Bias, Scholastic Signs Up, Saying Miniseries Promotes Truth, Richard Clark Weighs In, No Advertisers For Miniseries, Politicians Complain, And A Place to Send Letters, Shame on ABC, No Copy for Clinton, Whom They Bash in the Miniseries. Advance copies Only for Rightwingers . . . and on, and on, and on . . . This week in Atrios.
Crooks&Liars has some news, too, here. (I love blogs with the “category” function!) Daily Kos has plenty to say as well, here. TBogg has a bit to say, as does TPM. And of course, you can always count on Media Matters to have the facts.
In essence, ABC made a miniseries with a deeply rightwinged bias — biased to the point of deliberately lying. The Path to 9/11 will be showing world-wide, tonight and tomorrow night, with only a fiddly disclaimer stating that some scenes are “dramatized”. In this case, “dramatized” means “complete bullshit”.
Good going ABC. And Disney. You assholes.

Well, I expect a network like ABC to do better than outright, bald-faced lie. That’s Fox News’ job.
