Wednesday Riddles & A Short Book Review

I recently read Dan Brown’s first book, Angels and Demons, and it was pretty decent. I liked The Da Vinci code better, but Angels and Demons was good, too. It was fast-paced, if a bit heavy-handed.
The book was basically Science vs. God, a theme which Dan Brown beats us over the head with throughout the book. The anti-science priests in the book use every argument every nutjob creationist I’ve ever argued with on a forum uses — about as well as the forum nutters use them. The scientists, on the other hand, come across as arrogant, frosty cold, and generally unlikable. The plot itself is fairly decent, although at the end, it goes flying wildly off into complete improbability. You’re going to have to really heave to suspend that disbelief. Still, the hero, Robert Langham the symbologist, is as likable as he was in The Da Vinci Code, and his pretty girl du jour was at least brighter than the dumb cow in Code. All in all, it was a decent enough read, but I’m glad I got it in paperback out of the bargain bin. If I’d paid full price I’d have been a bit cranky about it. Still, not too shabby for a first book, I suppose.
And now, of course, the Wednesday Riddle:
Follow these instructions : Take one full cup of coffee and drink 1/6 of it. Replace what you drank with milk. Now, drink 1/3 of the coffee/milk mixture. Again, replace what you drank with more milk. Now, drink 1/2 of what is in the cup. Once again, replace what you drank with milk. Now drink the entire cup of mixed coffee/milk. The questions are: Have you had more milk or more coffee? How much of each have you had?
Highlight for the answer: You have had the same amount of milk as you have had coffee. The cup originally held a cup of coffee (one-sixth plus one-third plus one-half), and you have poured in the same amount of milk.
