GenCon
Every year, we try to take vacation in August, and go to GenCon. This year will be our fifth trip to GenCon.
The first year Art and I were together, we went to GenCon, which was still in Milwaukee at that time. We went with Adamczykon, our then-room mate Doc Celestine, and quite the handful of other folks. We had a blast! It was the first time I’d ever LARPed, and I played the dumbest, most stereotypical Brujah ever. Adamczykon played the Prince of the city, Art played the de facto leader of the Toreador, and Doc played his right-hand man. We had entirely too much fun, and were exhausted at the end of the trip.

This is Adamczykon, getting into costume.

Here’s a fellow we spotted out front of the convention center, in a suit of hand made armor. You see a lot of this kind of thing at GenCon.

This is me, in costume as Victoria, the Lasombre Antitribue, from our second LARP. (Lasombre are another V:tM vampire clan, usually bad guys. “Antitribue” means that my Lasombre was a renegade, a good guy.)

Art and I together. Art was playing the Prince of my city, Joseph, another Toreador character. He got a standing ovation from the assembly of gamers when he walked onto the floor in that suit, which has infamously become known at “the Purple Pimp Suit”. Another gamer followed him around all night singing the “Shaft” theme song, with “Shaft” replaced by “Joseph”. It was, ladies and gentlemen, a damn good costume.

A shot of a local church. I loved the architecture in Milwaukee.

Here are a couple of shots of the con center in Milwaukee. It was nice, but just became too small for the convention.

The local library in Milwaukee. I could have happily lived the rest of my days in that library. It was beyond gorgeous.

Here are a couple of shots of a two-story fountain in the mall in downtown Milwaukee. Beautiful mall. Again, loved that architecture.

A shot of Art as the “Plum Prince of Atlanta”, Joseph. All of his outfits were royal purple for that character.

And here are the guys, from left to right, Boyd, a friend we met at GenCon, Art, in one of his other purple costumes, and Adamczykon as the Egyptian Gangrel.
